Beautiful Day at Mammoth

We had a great day skiing Mammoth Mountain Saturday. Even Logan got in the act (although unlike us, he prefers to eat his "ski").

The weather was gorgeous--around 50 degrees with a bright blue sky and NO WIND--spring skiing in March! Despite the warm temperatures, the snow stayed great and the crowds were manageable (for a Saturday, that is).

Colette made a complete spectacle of herself at the top of Solitude after being thrown to the ground by a whack on the back from the chair lift after disembarking, but she recovered nicely (no they didn't have to stop the lift).

Of course, Stan continually egged her on and actually got her down the front side of Face Lift (this is a big deal). He next tried for another attempt at Scottie's Run but ran out of luck--the memories of descending Scottie's face first were still too fresh on Colette's mind.

And what about Stan? Well, he outskied everyone on his brand new B4s.!!!(Note the color!)

Love,
The fun couple from California

When did you get those, Dad, and why didn't I know about it!? They look good!

New skis? Well...I guess you deserve some too. If anything cool skis will counter balance your old age. Oh yeah, the B4's are pretty sweet, good choice!

When those skis came up for sale at 50% off, what could I do? Rock on!!

Dad, are those 185s? Don't you think you should have gotten something a little more manageable for you? Something like a pair 150s? Anyways, you should thank me for the skis. If I hadn't pointed you to that deal, you wouldn't have gotten them, and if I hadn't made you ski through a rock field, you wouldn't have needed to.

Mom, I love that yellow jacket.

Yes, Eric, thank you. You kids are always good at finding ways for Dad to lighten his pocketbook! At least I was the beneficiary of this expenditure. The turth is, I am really pleased with the skis. Now I just need to find some bright green ski pants (or better yet a lime green powder suit) to go with them.
